After last year’s teachers’ strike at Portland Public Schools, Gov. Tina Kotek announced her plan to re-examine funding for Oregon’s K-12 public education system. That effort must answer a fundamental question: How much money does Oregon actually need to spend to provide an excellent and equitable public education to every child?

Whitney's piece is the second in a new op-ed series published by The Oregonian this year offering different perspectives on how to change education funding in Oregon. Read the full op-ed in The Oregonian.
